Frequently asked questions - FAQ

Q: Why is dentistry so expensive?
A Swedish dental care is cheap by international standards, in Denmark, for instance, prices are generally 20-40% higher than in Sweden. As the Specialist Clinic is a private clinic based our prices on the same criteria for other advanced private services ie. high level of competence (see this section), long experience, high demand, general cost certainty, taxes and employer contributions, salary levels, flexibility towards the patient, etc. As a patient, only you can determine what your dental care is worth and it is you who must find out what you get for your money.

Q: Does it hurt to operate the implant?
A: No, it does not hurt. Implant surgery is done with common local anesthetic and then one experiences as a patient is not this different than other pain-free surgery in the oral cavity. Afterwards, however, have a little pain when the anesthetic release but against this we write out the painkillers.

Q: Can you have a general anesthetic?
A: As mentioned above, made implant surgery, including major surgery, with local anesthesia why the need for general anesthesia is not present. However, we can always offer you as a patient a sedative tablet before surgery that removes the discomfort and stress. This works well for most patients.

Q: Can anyone have implants?
A: Yes, unless you are seriously ill and in hospital. Even if you have diabetes, eat cortisone or have osteoporosis, you can get implants if there is enough bone volume. An individual assessment must always be made.

Q: Can smokers get implants?
A: Habitual Smokers are at greater risk of losing their implants, especially if other factors such as bone mass and location of the implant is less than desirable. If you are only aware of this, the patient denies us no treatment. Many people choose, however, to try to stop before a such a large and expensive interventions.

Q: How long does it take to get implant teeth?
A: Previously, we often have to wait 6-12 months to complete treatment. Today it takes about 8 weeks after surgery to the implant has healed up and the new tooth can be made. Most patients will be completed within 2-3 months.

Q: I have heard that you can get implants teeth in an hour, is that right?
A: It is true that currently experimenting with the implant screws and fit the teeth at any one time. As a patient, it is important to know that this way of working only been a few years and do not have the 30-year follow-up available at the classical treatment (see previous question). One must therefore be clear that the risk of failure increases. Furthermore, it takes several weeks to prepare for this action so the question is what you win on time. In Specialist Hospital, we work according to the classic proven methods for each patient should have maximum predictability of success as possible.

Q: What do you use materials to the teeth?
A: The implants are always made of titanium and nothing else. I do always the bridges and crowns on top of the titanium-ceramic that is. a metal frame made of titanium with "china" on the outside. This is by no means the cheapest material, but who wants to have materials with inferior durability (such as plastics) and metals with dubious health effects (such as dental gold.) Cobalt-chrome or steel) to save a few bucks. With a good and safe biological material, an implant design keeping in principle a lifetime without costly repairs and redesign costs. We take pride in using only the best materials. Who really wants to have something else in his body?

Q: Can you cure periodontal disease / parodontose?
A: No. Periodontitis / Parodonotose is a chronic disease. Since the exact cause is not understood scientifically, the treatment is currently out on alleviating the symptoms as much as possible. This is done by carefully removing plaque and, if necessary, remove the inflamed gums to reduce periodontal pockets / loons. Thereafter, the patient must go regularly to aid the treatment and follow-up was sixth to twelfth month of the dental hygienist.

Q: Laws you hole as well?
A specialist clinic is specialized in tooth loss treatments and advanced bite rehabilitation FFA with implants. "Ordinary" dental treatment done at a general dentist (see links).
